Why you should have a lip care routine

Our lips are naturally more sensitive than other areas of our face because the skin on our lips is much thinner. This means that our lips constantly react to the external environment, usually by becoming dry and cracked.

Caring for your skin begins with keeping it healthy, and this is the same for your lips. To keep your pout looking and feeling its best, sometimes you need to give it a little extra TLC.

So how do I make a lip care routine?

Luckily, caring for your lips is easy. We recommend two main steps to ensure your lips stay smooth and hydrated:

 1. Exfoliation

First things first, let's start off with a clean slate. Exfoliation is known for its ability to remove dead skin cells, and this is exactly what we want for our lips.

Slough away dry, flaky dead skin off your lips to keep them looking smooth. Exfoliation also primes the lips for your next step! As the skin on our lips are quite thin and delicate, you should be careful with the frequency of your exfoliation! Consider exfoliating once a week and at most twice a week.

2. Hydration

Once the lips have been cleansed and prepped, it's time to keep them moisturised and hydrated. Keeping your lips plumped with a lip mask rather than a lip balm can add that extra hydration. Products with oils are key, because they keep your lips feeling softer for longer.

This lip mask delivers vitamin C, Shea Butter, fruit extracts and a gorgeous blend of oils while you sleep to truly revitalise your lips keeping them supple and hydrated.

Can't I just use a lip balm?

Lip balms are great, but they just don't do enough. They're great for a quick top up because they create a thin layer of moisture which then evaporates over time.

In order to completely soften the lips, hydration must reach down deep. The surface of the lips should form a protective membrane to defend against moisture evaporation, and the deeper layers of the lips should be properly moisturised and nourished.
